Position Summary
The Pharmacy
Technician practices as a member of the multidisciplinary team to ensure the
safety and quality of medication related process conforms to the highest
standards, according to the Ontario College of Pharmacists, the Ministry of
Health, Accreditation Canada, and policies of Deep River and District Health.
Position Relationships
The Registered
Pharmacy Technician reports directly to the Manager of Clinical Services -
Acute Care and communicates and collaborates with the healthcare team,
including physicians, staff, students and volunteers, as well as external
providers in identified needs of the organization and pharmacy services. Duties: - Responsible for drug distribution in the hospital,
including procurement, order entry, repackaging, labelling, dispensing,
delivery, administrating, and charting.
- Adheres to all policies and procedures.
- Supports and demonstrates the mission, vision and values of
Deep River and District Health.
- Other duties may be assigned and may not be limited to the
scope of an individual department.
Qualifications: - Graduate of a Pharmacy Technician Program or Pharmacy
Technician Assistant program with delegation privileges required.
- Registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the Ontario
College of Pharmacists required.
- Two (2) years’ experience working as a Pharmacy Technician
preferred.
- Experience working in a Hospital Pharmacy preferred.
- Experience with Epic an asset.
- Demonstrated excellent time management, organization,
communication and interpersonal skills required.
- Computer literacy required.
- Experience with computerized pharmacy systems preferred.
- Exceptional Attendance required.
- Must agree to adhere to DRDH standards of behaviour.
