Position Summary

The Dietary Aide assists with meal preparation, dishwashing and sanitation duties of the kitchen. Assists in maintaining kitchen work areas along with keeping equipment, utensils, dishes and serving areas clean and organized.

 

Position Relationships

This position is responsible to the Food and Nutrition Supervisor and/or Manager of Operations or delegate. This position interfaces and builds relationships with members of the Management Team, Service Employees, Nursing Staff, Volunteers, Residents and Family.

 

Duties:

  • Dish and pan washing, storage and cleaning duties.
  • Maintain cleanliness of work areas, floors in food preparation and storage areas.
  • Assist with food preparation.
  • Follow sanitation standards for the preparation, storage and serving food.
  • Adheres to all policies and procedures.
  • Supports and demonstrates the mission, vision, and values of Deep River and District Health.
  • Other duties may be assigned and may not be limited to the scope of an individual department.

 

 Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of Grade 12 or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Recent successful completion of the Food Handlers course offered by Public Health required.
  • Gentle Persuasive Approach certification preferred.
  • Experience in food preparation, dishwashing and cleaning an asset.
  • Experience in a healthcare setting an asset.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills in dealings with the public required.
  • Ability to work well independently, with others in a team approach, and adapt to changing situations required.
  • Computer literacy required.
  • Exceptional Attendance required.
  • Must agree to adhere to DRDH standards of behaviour.
