Position Summary

Registration of patients and general office duties as assigned by the Manager of Patient Information and Privacy Officer.

 

Position Relationships

Functions under the direction of the Manger of Patient Information and Privacy Officer. Works with all staff members to support their duties as required. Interacts with residents, patients, staff and members of the general public.

 

Duties: 

 

  • Responsible for the registration of all In-Patient, Emergency, and Out-Patients.
  • Handles and directs incoming phone calls to the hospital.
  • Completes admissions, discharges and their related functions.
  • Responsible for completing specific billings and records of transactions, in compliance with existing financial policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for scanning records into Epic.
  • Supports and demonstrates the mission, vision and values of the Organization.
  • Other duties may be assigned and may not be limited to the scope of an individual department.

Qualifications: 

 

  •  Completion of a Medical Office Administration Diploma or equivalent.
  • Medical Terminology course preferred.
  • Computer literacy and current computer experience and familiarity with basic computer applications (i.e. MS Word, MS Excel) required.
  • Experience in electronic medical records systems preferred.
  • Relevant healthcare and/or registration experience preferred.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills in dealings with the public required.
  • Ability to work well with others in a team approach, and adapt to changing situations required.
  • Ability to maintain staff, patient and resident confidentiality.
  • Exceptional Attendance required.
  • Must agree to adhere to DRDH standards of behaviour.
