Before Arriving

Moving into long-term care is a significant transition, and we want to ensure you feel prepared, informed, and supported every step of the way.

On this page, you’ll find helpful guidance about what to bring, how to personalize your room, and important details to consider before you arrive.

What to Bring

We encourage residents to bring items that will help make them feel at home while also ensuring safety and ease of care. Please consider packing the following:

  • 7–10 changes of clothing (comfortable, machine-washable, easy to put on/off)
  • Comfortable footwear with good grip (indoor shoes, rubber-soled slippers, outdoor boots)
  • Seasonal outerwear (coat, hat, gloves, rainwear)
  • Personal toiletries, including cosmetics, electric razor, and other grooming items
  • A favourite bedspread, if desired (colour-coordinated ones are also provided)
  • Special photos, artwork, or small decorative pieces (we’ll help hang them up)
  • Personal furniture such as a small chair or side table (must meet safety requirements)
  • Medications you are currently taking

Please note that all clothing will be labelled by our staff to help keep your items safe and organized.

What Not to Bring

To maintain a safe and supportive environment for everyone, we ask that you do not bring the following:

  • Large or bulky furniture items
  • Area rugs or items that may pose a trip hazard
  • Large amounts of cash or valuables

Please note that Four Seasons Lodge is not responsible for any lost or stolen valuables (i.e. cash, jewellery, etc.), glasses, dentures or assistive devices. Residents are encouraged to leave their valuables with their family or Power of Attorney (POA).

Your Room

Each room at Four Seasons Lodge is approximately 12 ft. by 17 ft. and comes furnished with the following:

  • A bed, chair, dresser, night table, and wall-mounted bulletin board
  • A storage cupboard for personal clothing

Residents are encouraged to personalize their space within safety guidelines. Our team will work with you to ensure your furnishings meet fire safety and mobility requirements.

Just outside each room is a “curio” display case — a glass-fronted cabinet where you can showcase keepsakes, photos, and meaningful objects from your life. These displays help tell your story and spark conversations with other residents, team members, and visitors.

Television, Telephone & Internet
  • Cable television: Each room is cable-ready. To activate service, you or a family member must contact the cable provider directly.
  • Telephone: Residents may have a phone installed in their room. Please contact your preferred telephone service provider to arrange.
  • Internet: Free, limited Wi-Fi is available throughout the home.
Personal Services
  • Newspaper delivery: Can be arranged by contacting the newspaper of your choice.
  • Hair care, foot care, dental hygiene, and other personal services: Information about on-site services will be provided upon admission.
Legal & Financial Documents

To help us provide safe and coordinated care, please bring the following:

  • Power of Attorney for Personal Care document (if applicable)
  • Name and contact information for your main family contact or substitute decision-maker

This designated person will be our main point of contact for questions or updates and should be available in case of emergency.

Photography Consent

In support of community connection and transparency, we sometimes share stories, photos, and videos from life at the Lodge. Residents will only be included in social media, website content, or promotional materials with explicit written consent. Participation is entirely voluntary.
