Registered Nurse Michelle (middle) was presented with the 2024 Essential Pieces Award from Madison Magne, Manager of Clinical Services for Acute Care, (left) and Janna Hotson, President and CEO, (right) at Deep River & District Health’s Springtime Social – an event which included service milestone awards as well as a celebration of other achievements throughout the past year.

Deep River and District Health once again came together to honour and celebrate the exceptional contributions of team members at the organization’s annual recognition event. The Springtime Social was held on April 12, 2024, and celebrated both service milestone and peer recognition recipients, as well as other notable achievements from the past year.
Janna Hotson, DRDH President and CEO, expressed her gratitude for the dedication and hard work of the entire team, stating, "This event is a cherished opportunity for us to come together and recognize the incredible efforts that drive our organization forward. Each member of our team plays a vital role in our success, and it is truly inspiring to recognize our team’s service achievements, and celebrate each other."

David Cox, DRDH Board Chair, echoed these sentiments, extending appreciation to all team members on behalf of the Board of Directors. "Our organization's accomplishments are a testament to the commitment and passion of our team members. It is through your unwavering dedication that we continue to make a positive impact on the communities we serve," said Cox.

Highlighting the significance of peer recognition, the Essential Pieces Award was presented to an outstanding individual who exemplifies the organization's Mission, Vision, and Values. This year, the prestigious award was presented to Michelle, a Registered Nurse who was nominated by her peers for demonstrating compassion, caring, and excellence in her care of others. Michelle’s person-centered approach was highlighted by her peers for the countless positive impacts she has had on patients throughout her nearly 15 years at DRDH.

"Michelle’s passion and dedication are clearly evident in her nursing practice, and it is my pleasure to present her with this year’s Essential Pieces Award. Michelle’s kindness, compassion, respect, and unwavering support for her peers truly embody the spirit of DRDH," remarked Hotson. "We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Michelle and express our gratitude for the strength she brings to our Emergency Department team and organization."

DRDH would like to extend congratulations to each of the eight deserving nominees for the Essential Pieces Award this year. Nominees work across the organization in various departments including Maintenance, Information Technology, Nursing, Housekeeping, Dietary, and Diagnostic Imaging.

In addition to individual peer recognition, DRDH also celebrated the commitment and loyalty of employees who reached significant service milestones in 2023. The organization awarded 5-year pins to six employees, 10-year pins to four employees, a 15-year pin to one employee, 20-year pins to two employees, and 25-year pins to three employees. Special recognition was also given to four retirees who each dedicated over 10 years of service to the organization, with one having dedicated over 40 years.

Moreover, the event served as an opportunity to express appreciation to the team members who showcased DRDH’s values in responding to the fire that took place on the organization’s roof last November. The timely actions of those working during the evening of the fire, as well as all those who responded to assist, were essential to the safe outcome experienced by all.

DRDH would like to extend sincere gratitude to all team members who celebrated our shared accomplishments at the Springtime Social event this year. Our team’s ongoing commitment to excellence is a cornerstone of our organization's continued growth and success.
